3 D’s
Before you continue to read this post, I want you to close your eyes and I want you to visualize what you enjoy doing, and what makes you happy when you are doing this certain thing.
Now, I’m sure this vision you see is something you want to do; in turn it could possibly be your purpose. The question I'm sure you are asking is, how do I figure out my purpose in life?
Before we answer that question there is something that I believe you should have in your mentality. Of the different ideas, I have an important one to me that I've called the 3 D's.
DECIDE
DRIVE
DISCIPLINE
Your purpose is what you are suppose to do in your life. The great thing about figuring out your purpose is first, only you can decipher what it is, and second your purpose in life can be whatever you want it to be. One of the greatest gifts of life is having choices and making them. As you are reading this, hopefully your purpose in life is something positive and meaningful.
I believe once you establish the courage to figure out your purpose you will then make the decision to act on this purpose. The biggest detriment in our life sometime is we can't make a decision that will better us. It could be because of fear; or outside influence doubting us. Decide to yourself that once you know what your purpose in life is you will act on it. Once you Decide that you are going to fulfill your purpose there will be an ease on your mind.
Our purpose, I would hope is our passion; it's something we absolutely love. I feel once you establish the courage to make the decision to fulfill your purpose; you have to have the Drive, or simply put ambition to continue toward your purpose. Your Drive allows you to withstand any challenges that could come during your journey; find different ways to motivate yourself.
The decision has been made, and you have the drive to continue to strive toward your purpose. Lastly, you have to stay Disciplined throughout your journey. Discipline falls back on habits, and if you have good habits, then this will lead toward you fulfilling your purpose; if you stay the course you will reach your purpose. Don't sway away from the decision you made, and don't let negative influences get in your way. I always tell my athletes if you practice good habits then you will have excellent outcomes on and off the court; and vice versa. If you practice bad habits you will find yourself in a bad situation, your outcomes may not be what you envisoned, and the opportunities to excel on and off the court may not happen.
Make goals, and achieve them for you will become successful; fulfill your purpose that you set, and all of it will happen.
DECIDE
DRIVE
DISCIPLINE
Keep these 3 actions in your mentality with your every day life and you will see how much you accomplish.
